As a personal injury lawyer in British Columbia since 1995 representing ICBC claimants,  I have had many clients that live in Surrey even though my law firm  is based in Vancouver right across from the courthouse. Surrey British Columbia is one of the fastest growing areas in Canada and car accidents are a daily reality. Personal injury lawyers in Surrey often have to file personal injury lawsuits for their injury clients at the Vancouver Courthouse. Currently, Surrey has no Courthouse and your injury lawyer, if their law office is  located in Surrey, will have to travel to Vancouver to attend court on your behalf.  Vancouver has the Provincial, Supreme, and Court of Appeal  for British Columbia whereas Surrey has none rather New Westminster and Chilliwack are the only other areas with a Courthouse in the Lower Mainland. There are of course pros and cons to having a personal injury lawyer physically close to where you live. In our modern world of phone, email and all other sorts of communication I find my personal injury clients decide to come to see me in my office less often than before. It is, in my experience, more important to your ICBC injury claim where your personal injury lawyer is located than where you live.  If you have an injury case, including ICBC claims,  that will require numerous court applications and is procedurally complex you should consider looking for an injury trial lawyer that is close a courthouse and court registry.
No matter where your lawyer’s office is located the best lawyers in British Columbia will usually offer to coordinate a visit to your home if you are physically unable to attend the lawyers office. Top personal injury lawyers will also want to prepare their clients for trial in the lawyers office where they can have access to all the relevant documentation.
It does make sense to meet your injury lawyer at the law office so you can see for yourself where the lawyer works and how convenient it will be for your injury lawyer to prosecute your personal injury claim. Posted by Mr. Renn A. Holness
