ICBC personal injury claims can become complicated to even the most experienced lawyers. After 21 years making ICBC injury claims as an injury lawyer I would like to share a few important tips to make your claim process easier. If you want to be covered for your injury claim here are three steps you absolutely need to follow:
1. Your First step is to secure yourself and people involved in the car accident. Ambulance, hospital, walk-in clinics are all critical depending on the severity of the injuries.
2. Second step is to secure your vehicle and preserve all evidence of the car crash. Take pictures of the scene, the cars. Now a days you can even take video of the scene and any witnesses statements. This is a great way to prevent misunderstandings later in the case.
3. Third step is to report the car accident. Report the accident to ICBC, the authorities, your auto insurance company and a legal advocate for free advice. Make sure you take notes and ask questions.
If you have not followed these steps and more than 90 days have passed since the crash, your personal injury case will now be in serious jeopardy of being dismissed. Learn more about the steps to starting an ICBC claim:
